[Travel] Honeymoon in Belize -weather and travel to the resort!

Our honeymoon was back in December of 2019 in Belize at a private island called Coco Plum Island All-Inclusive Resort. I had just finished 5 out of 6 of my main hospital rotations for medical school (third year) so it was perfect timing and the perfect place to relax after a stressful 6 months.

From where we live, in Michigan, it took us 3 plane rides and a boat ride to get to the island. However, the resort staff takes care of everything for you as long as you book the plane ride to Belize City. After that, they will book the plane ride from Belize City to Dangriga and the boat ride from Dangriga to the island. For us, we had to stop in Atlanta, GA before reaching Belize City so that's why it was 3 plane rides. But for other places in Texas and California, we heard it was a nonstop ride to Belize City.

The flights and the boat we take to the island!

Our first day, the weather was quite amazing. It was bright and sunny with no rain and a slight cool breeze. The temperature was about 70-80s everyday so we were wearing our summer and beach clothes. (Our trip was from Dec 15th to Dec 24th)

Our second day was also quite sunny but it started to rain a little bit in the morning. We went cave tubing and ziplining this day and it down poured during our walk to the cave but it was an amazing feeling because it felt like we were in the middle of a rainforest while taking our hike. The rain felt refreshing and it was perfect since we were going to get wet from cave tubing anyway.

Unfortunately, the next couple of days we got a lot of rain and wind. It was apparently the worst storm Belize has ever gotten in the area. It was cloudy and a bit chilly but only needed to wear a light jacket over my summer dress and the island provides large rain jackets for all the guests so no need to bring your own.

Thankfully, our final two days were sunny with a slight breeze so we were back to no jackets and bikini/swimsuits under thin summer clothes.

Overall, the weather was quite nice and so much better compared to the weather back home in Michigan so we didn't complain :)
