[Travel] What to pack to a trip to a private island

For our honeymoon trip, we went to an all inclusive private island resort in Belize called Coco Plum Island in December, so the weather is technically a bit cooler than other months, but it was about 70-80 degrees F for most of our trip.

The type of clothes to bring would be summer and beach clothes with a couple of longer light pants/dresses, short pants/skirts, and a light jacket or sweater in case it gets chilly. We also bought rash guards for swimming which I thought it was nice to have an extra layer in the water and to not get sunburned, but most other guests only wore bathing suits while doing water activities. The resort also provides wet suits for anyone who wants them! (free of charge of course)

There is also a mini store on the island in case guests forget to bring things, so it is not a big deal if one doesn't bring everything that was needed!

Some of the outfits we wore during our trip

Short packing list of the essentials:

couple of bathing suits

rash guards (if wanted)

undergarments and socks

summer clothes (long/short summer dresses, skirts, short pants, tank tops, thin long pants for men, thin leggings for women), thin shirts

thin jacket or sweater or thin waterproof rain coat (but the resort had long, thick, nice quality raincoats for all their guests)

tennis shoes or other walking shoes (for city activities)

flip flops or sandals

water shoes (I found it really nice to have water shoes for the cave tubing and just water activities in general!)

(honestly no need to bring heels for females, it's sand everywhere on the island)

bug spray!! (must have!! I got tons of bites on my legs t.t)

waterproof sunscreen (face and body)

other cosmetics needed (face wash, makeup ect)

shampoo and conditioner and body wash (they provide it too but if you want your own)

toothbrush and toothpaste (do not provide)

books to read or tablet to play on

medications needed (motion sickness meds, pain meds just in case)

sunglasses

passport and other legal documents for traveling

waterproof case for your phone

ziploc bags

towels (only if you want your own, the resort provides them for you)

snorkeling gear (if you have your own or want your own, but again, the resort provides all the essentials for you including life vests and tubes!)

camera! (we were able to take lots of photos on the island)
